On Thursday April 24, 2008 Jen Charbonneau visited St. Joseph’s High School to talk with our grade nine Religion students on the topic of "Helping Others Understand The Struggle With Eating Disorders". Jen’s presentation covered the unrealistic expectations that the media places upon the impressionable minds of our youth.
Jen made a strong connection with the students through sharing personal experiences and insight into the thriving problem of eating disorders within our society. The workshop consisted of hands on activities, video analysis, accounts of personal experience and the conveying of the ever-important message that it is important for us to love who we are regardless of the narrow and unattainable image-ideals that modern media attempts to set in place for our youth.
Jen’s message is one that is imperative to be shared with our youth and we recommend her workshop to students of this age group.
As well, the topic of eating disorders goes hand in hand in conjunction with the curriculum of grade nine Religion.
Once again, we are very thankful to Jen Charbonneau.
